Support A Home for The Hive♥
On October of 2021, our Executive Director, Ashley Thomas, informed the community that we would be relocating as a result of harm experienced by members of The Hive.
While it was a disappointing and a traumatic situation, the need to relocate turned into a blessing as we were able to secure a historic home within the Columbia College campus. A place centralized within communities served.
The new property will also support The Hive in attaining a component of our five year strategic plan, by having a space that enhances our service delivery for BIPOC survivors and families of interpersonal violence and a welcoming safe space for community members to be a part of-free of violence.
The anticipated expense for relocation and new general operations are inclusive of moving expenses, temporary storage and co-working space, accessibility renovations, increased rent, and new security implementations put in place for the safety of the team, program participants, and visitors.
We are coming to our current and new donors to support us with these expenses, enhancing the ability to help survivors and advocates, in a safe space that will not perpetuate harm, nor systemic patriarchal privilege.
