We can bring hope and support to survivors in South Carolina!

My support for The Hive was inspired by the many women and girls I met while working as a counselor in community mental health. One glaring gap that was realized early on was the lack of appropriate services for victims of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Especially services with consideration and knowledge of the unique experiences of women and girls of color. I met Ashley by happen-stance and learned about what she was building. I was so inspired by her commitment and dedication to fill a need in our community and knew I wanted to support her- and her vision- in any way I could. I’ve been a Keeper ever since and I hope that today, you’ll become one, too.

At The Hive, we love to give a space for program participants to share their experiences after they receive our services. This is just one of many testimonies that reflect the importance of survivors attaining the tools they need to overcome trauma: “The hardest decision I have ever made was to walk away from a domestic violence situation with my four children, without knowing what we would wear, what we would eat, or where we would sleep. I reached out for help from several places; however, they could not support me with my family's needs. When I got down to my last ounce of faith, I stumbled across The Hive Community Circle. The first thing the advocate told me was how brave I was, and that gave me hope. I felt seen. She helped us with securing food and clothing for the entire family. She went above and beyond to fulfill our needs. That small sense of someone caring motivated me not to give up. She also helped us apply for housing assistance so the children and I would be safe.
